Hello everyone! Welcome to #MembershipMonday!

At this point, all of your chapters are knee deep in your pledge/new member classes; their education in full swing. But education is only half of the program.

The Big/Little relationship is one of the most important dynamics in APO. While every brother (especially the pledge master(s)) in a chapter is a mentor to the pledges, it's the Big who can make the biggest (pun intended) impact on a pledge during their experience. It's something that is rewarding for both individuals as they become close friends for life.

Pairing a pledge to a big can be quite the process. There should be some care and thought put behind selecting whom the best person will be for each pledge.

Bigs should be active and engaged. They should want to be a big! Having similar interests is great, but they can be opposites too. And they don't have to have been friends beforehand. Not being paired up doesn't mean they won't be friends after.

Now, how do you tell them? How do they know which chapter family or line they're joining? There is an optional ceremony in our ritual book which you can use to introduce each pairing. You can also do what Alpha Delta Mu did in the video [here (courtesy of Samantha Mundy - Thanks Sam!). What they do is...well see for yourself!

However you decide to pair your pledges and however you tell them, do so with thought and care and show them how much you appreciate them. Bigs, congrats, it's the best thing ever to be in APO. Littles, good luck!

Don't forget to be excellent to each other.

Hope those of you on Spring Break have a blast! Remember to register for Membership Academy/University happening this summer!

As always, you can contact us at membership@apor1.org. Take care and see you next week!
