The Thingamijig - The Region I Summer Volunteer Staff Meeting

Camp Candlewood
29 Bogus Hill Rd, New Fairfield, CT 06812

August 18,
2017 after 7:00 PM to Noon Sunday, August 20, 2017

What to Bring:
We will be sleeping in the two of the camp's buildings, bunkhouses, or in a small field for personal tents (or at a nearby hotel if you prefer). The buildings have foam mattresses available, but there will not be bunks or cots; the bunkhouses have built-in bunks and foam mattresses. Some sleeping spaces will double as meeting space during the day. So bring general camping equipment like a sleeping bag or blankets, pillow, flashlight, bug spray, sunscreen, personal items, toiletries, towels, light jacket, coffee mug or plastic drinking glass, snacks for Friday night, pen and paper, and idea. If you have a tent, please feel free to bring it!

The suggested dress for this weekend is casual. Please wear clothing you would be comfortable camping in. We will be doing a service project for the camp so plan on bringing some additional clothes to do work in. If the weather is good, we may move outdoors for some sessions. If the weather is bad, we will be indoors.

Please bring snacks to share on Friday night since dinner will not be provided. Continental style breakfast will be prepared on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Saturday lunch will be a taco bar. Saturday dinner will be a BBQ with burgers, hot dogs, chicken, etc. We will be taking up a collection for the cost of the food (approx. $40.00 - $45.00). If you have special dietary needs, please let us know and we will attempt to accommodate them.

Please bring any games or maybe even earplugs (if you'd like to take a cat nap)!

The main parking area is just outside the dining hall. Be courteous driving through camp and park compactly. Overflow parking is available in a secondary lot closer to the camp's entrance. Here is a map on page 2 of this document so you can visually see the camp

There are plenty of flush toilets on site, and two showers. Please plan accordingly.

Kitchen duty:
Brother Jeff Cantor has once again graciously agreed to be chief cook and bottle washer! :-) Thanks Jeff! We will have sign-up sheets to help with kitchen duty (prep, cooking, cleanup), so please plan to take at least one shift to help out.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Eric, Region 1 Chair, or your Section Chair.
